ABOUT

Mark Mbogo, better known as KayCyy Pluto, is a singer/songwriter born in Kenya, Africa.  In 2007, he moved to the US with his family.  His love for music began when he started playing the drums in elementary school and singing in his church choir.  It was then that his mother gave him the name KC, meaning "King Confidence". When asked "What's the Pluto for?" KayCyy says "I believe in imagination.  I feel like music should take you to a certain place where you feel free. I chose Pluto because it's the only planet that's counted out , and debates about it not even being a planet makes it even more interesting.  In real life you might not fit in with society, but when you listen to KayCyy Pluto, you can be yourself in a place that's also as different as you. Pluto - what's fun about being the same?  Imagination is different."

While Hip-hop is at the core, KayCyy’s music blends a mix of Afrobeat, R&B, and Pop.  When asked to describe his musical style, KayCyy says that he doesn't like to label his genre...he says that he is "just free."

KayCyy, grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota.  He became known locally when he began exhausting all options possible to pursue his musical career.  When faced with obstacles, KayCyy stayed positive and prayed for more opportunities.  He performed anywhere he could.  From school shows performances to state shows, KayCyy was present and on stage.  He soon began to make small budget music videos and uploading them on YouTube.  As time passed, KayCyy began to expand his fan base, as his music gained popularity on YouTube and Soundcloud.

Life for KayCyy took a dramatic turn in his senior year in high school, as his music became more well known.  Thanks to his drive, persistence and confidence, he was contacted by New York based production and management team. Alive Productions, who were extremely interested in his music.  To his surprise, they booked him a ticket to New York for an initial meeting.  When KayCyy told his mother, she assumed it was just another music gig and told him not to go.  Understanding the magnitude of this meeting, Kaycyy packed his bags, and left Minnesota for the bright lights of New York.  He met with the owners of Alive Productions, who were even more impressed with his intelligence and quiet demeanor.  They signed him almost immediately.  After returning from SXSW, a large music festival in Austin Texas, where KayCyy performed in several shows, Alive teamed him up with Sharif "Reefa" Slater, a Brooklyn-born producer, who originally played drums for Destiny's Child, and the two hit the studio.  KayCyy and Reefa produced an impressive catalog of songs including the hit "Hesitate", a Afro-Caribbean inspired song, with an infectious baseline, which will have you "wining like you should."  Hesitate was an instant crowd-pleaser, and owners of Alive Productions, Selwyn Charles and Butch St. Lewis, having Caribbean roots, decided to debut the song in Trinidad and Tobago, which hosts one of the biggest carnivals in the world.

After Carnival, KayCyy was invited to perform at the Tobago Jazz festival in April 2017, where he performed on the same stage as legends such as Grace Jones and Wyclef Jean.

In March 2017, after returning from the Caribbean, blessed with versatility, Kaycyy flexed his hip hop muscles when he joined The Filthy America tour, with The Lox and Uncle Murda.  In May 2017, he opened up for Machel Montano in Atlanta, after which he went back into the studio, and laid down the vocals, for "In the Club", a smooth Pop track, with lyrics that show that Kaycyy is wise beyond his years.

"In the Club" is set to be released July 2017.

Kaycyy's unique voice and vast talents will take this young crooner far. In a short time,  KayCyy has had many accomplishments and continues to show us that we will be hearing much more from this soon-to-be superstar.
